Warehouse, freight and production workers for the port side of the west, from Kororoit Creek Road to the West Gate.
Bluestone Labour Group supplies storepersons, forklift operators, pick packers and production hands to freight, storage and food manufacturing sites in Altona North, Altona, Laverton and Spotswood. Below is the work we see on this side of the West Gate, the roles that fit it and how a booking works.
Altona, Altona North and Spotswood are in the City of Hobsons Bay. State planning describes Altona and Altona North as a mix of fuel terminals, intermodal freight terminals and food manufacturing, surrounded by transport, warehousing, distribution and general manufacturing. Spotswood sits close to the Port of Melbourne, with port related transport and fuel storage. The Burns Road industrial estate in Altona is protected as state significant land for freight, logistics and manufacturing, while part of the old factory land in Altona North, around Blackshaws Road, is being redeveloped for housing.
Warehouse and production roles, matched to the shift and the site rules.
Receival, picking, packing and despatch for the warehouses and distribution sites along Kororoit Creek Road, Grieve Parade and Millers Road.
LF holders for yard and dock work at freight terminals and transport depots, and LO holders for racked stores. The licence class is checked against your machines first.
Line, packing and process hands for the food manufacturers in Altona and Altona North, asked about hygiene inductions and gowning before the placement.
For sites that need someone to run the dock schedule and the paperwork for containers and linehaul, or to lead a small crew on night shift.
Not an exhaustive list. If your site is nearby and not named, ask.
Bluestone Labour Group holds Victorian Labour Hire Licence VICLHL11535. In Victoria a host business must use a licensed labour hire provider, and you can check our licence on the Labour Hire Authority register before you book.
Every worker we place here is a casual employee on our payroll, engaged under the Storage Services and Wholesale Award 2020 for warehouse and freight roles, or under the award that covers the work for food production, checked against the duties before the first shift. We pay the wages, superannuation and WorkCover, and you receive one weekly invoice built from the timesheets your supervisor approves.
Yard and terminal work is heavy and outdoor, and food lines are cold, wet and fast, so we ask the questions that matter before we offer anyone: right to work, the High Risk Work Licence class against your machines, and whether the person has done this kind of work before. Your induction, permits and machine sign off stay with you.
Shifts here often start early to meet a train slot or a truck booking. Tell us the start time and the pattern, and we only put forward people who can reliably get to Altona or Spotswood for it. Give us as much notice as you can, and if we cannot cover a request we say so. There is no sign up fee and no lock in contract.
Yes. Storepersons, pick packers, forklift operators and despatch staff for warehouses, transport depots and freight sites in Altona North, Altona, Laverton and Spotswood. Tell us about yard work, shift times and site rules when you book.
We supply LF licensed forklift operators and check the licence before anyone is offered. Container handlers and other heavy machines can need more than a forklift licence, so tell us exactly which machines run on your site and we will say plainly whether we can match them.
Yes. Brooklyn, Tottenham and Sunshine West, across the West Gate Freeway, form a separate industrial area with container storage, recycling and older manufacturing. It has its own page.
