Rigging and site labour where access, permits and pedestrians are the constraint.
Inner city work is not constrained by volume, it is constrained by access. There is nowhere to lay down materials, the crane window is booked, the road occupancy permit runs to a specific hour, and there are trams and pedestrians on the other side of the hoarding. A worker who is excellent on a greenfield subdivision can be a liability on a Collins Street site, and the difference is not skill, it is having worked in that environment before.
Bluestone supplies into CBD, Docklands, Southbank and the inner suburbs with that in mind. The demand here is weighted towards licensed rigging personnel and site labour who understand hoardings, deliveries booked to the minute, and the paperwork that comes with working next to a live street.
Licensed and ticketed roles dominate here. General labour is a smaller share than anywhere else in Melbourne.
DG, RB, RI and RA licence holders for high rise crane operations, structural steel erection and precast installation. The tightest part of the inner city market.
Site labour for inner city works, used to constrained access, booked deliveries and working inside a hoarding.
Pour crews and formworkers for structural pours, suspended slabs and inner city civil works.
Operators for small plant and confined site works, where machine size is dictated by access rather than by the volume of material.
Licensed operators for materials handling on site and in the inner industrial pockets through Port Melbourne and South Melbourne.
Not an exhaustive list. If your site is nearby and not named, ask.
Bluestone Labour Group holds Victorian Labour Hire Licence VICLHL11535. In Victoria it is a legal requirement for a host employer to use a licensed labour hire provider, and the obligation sits with you as well as with us.
Inner city work skews towards licensed roles: riggers and dogmen for a lift day or a permit driven closure. We supply them as casual employees on our payroll, with their licences and tickets checked before the booking.
Site labour engaged for a longer run on one project works the same way. Casual employment on our payroll puts the wages, PAYG, superannuation and WorkCover obligation on us, whether the booking is one day or several weeks.
Timesheets are approved by your site supervisor and consolidated into a single weekly invoice, and site specific inductions are arranged before the shift where you tell us in advance.
We check it specifically rather than assuming it. A licence proves the class of work someone is permitted to do, not that they have worked a constrained CBD site with a booked crane window. We ask about the actual lifts and sites worked, and we tell you honestly if someone is licensed but new to high rise.
As much as you can give, and more than you would need elsewhere. Licensed rigging personnel are the hardest roles in the Melbourne market to fill, so tell us the lift date as soon as it is set and we will say plainly whether we can cover it.
Workers complete whatever site specific induction you require, and we arrange it before the shift where you tell us in advance. Permits and the road occupancy approvals themselves stay with you or your traffic management provider. We supply the people who work to them.
